Lake Blanche // Little Cottonwood Canyon

Yes!! This hike really is my favorite in all of Utah. Why? It’s a killer workout that leads to a killer view. Best of all, you feel like you are in the middle of no where looking at the most amazing view of mountain lakes and peaks. You also get to see lots of wildlife including moose, mountain goats, and I’ve heard people have even seen black bears! Thankfully, I have never seen a bear in my life.

Lake Blanche is awesome because you can do it after work. In the summer, when 5pm rolls around you can head down the trailhead and get in and get out before the sun goes down. This time of day is awesome for seeing Sundial Peak’s reflection on the lake. Now, that’s a real apres-work accomplishment.

This hike isn’t for the faint-hearted. It gets your heart pounding and your legs burning. You gain about ____ feet in _____ miles. It takes about _____ to get up to the lake.

There are plenty of spots to set up a hammock or lay out on the warm rocks to take in the view. The lake is in a watershed, so swimming is not allowed. However, camping is allowed and I would really like to do an overnight up there sometime. Also, on my bucket list is to hike Sundial Peak. I think I might have to go on a weekend day for that one.
